PART-TIME PROJECT COORDINATOR (COMMUNITY ACTION NETWORK AGAINST ABUSE and SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL)

The Community Action Network Against Abuse (CANAA) is comprised of organizations and agencies in Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry and Akwesasne that have a vision of a community taking action against abuse through networking and community organizing.

The Social Development Council of Cornwall and Area’s mission is to collaborate with partners to incubate, connect and strengthen social development enterprises in Cornwall, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry and Akwesasne.

The part-time Coordinator is a contract position (average of 14 to 21 hours per week) for the 2018-2019 fiscal year with the possibility of renewal pending on-going funding.

Qualifications:
 Bilingualism –Excellent skills in English and French oral and written required
 Post secondary education and/or equivalent experience in Clerical Administration
 Knowledge of community agencies and abuse issues an asset
 Excellent interpersonal/social skills
 Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint,
 E-mail and Website)
 Good organizational skills and ability to work autonomously
 Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle
 Ability to work flexible hours and work from home.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

AGM/Meetings/Workshops
• Work in collaboration with the Chair/Co-Chair in the preparation of meeting agendas
• Prepare PowerPoint Presentations
• Work in collaboration with the Chair/Co-Chair to organize guest speakers and gifts of appreciation
• Distribute meeting material in a timely fashion (agenda, minutes, reports)
• Coordinate meeting and workshop logistics (invitations, attendance, registration, hall bookings, hall set up/take down, refreshments, participant handouts, agenda, etc.)
• Coordinate and confirm attendance of members
• Collaborate with Treasurer and Chair/Co-Chair in the preparation of the Annual General Meeting reports
• Coordinate yearly CANAA Award of Excellence nominations
• Attend all breakfast meetings and committee meetings
• Record and distribute minutes to members
• Follow up with action items
• Accept payments and provide receipts for same (memberships or breakfast meeting fees)
• Coordinate 50/50 draw at breakfast meetings

Memberships
• Maintain the membership list & distribute to members
• Liaise with CANAA members and exchange information
• Coordinate annual membership registration (annual invoices & receipts)

Marketing
• Maintain the website (upcoming events, membership list, meeting minutes, etc.)
• Prepare and distribute Public Service Announcements, with approval from Chair
• Act as primary spokesperson for CANAA media relations
• Track media releases
• Attend various functions to promote CANAA and domestic violence issues
• Produce advertising and marketing material as needed (newspaper articles, brochures, banners, safety kits)
• Collect updates/information from members to create the quarterly CANAA newsletter

General Office Responsibilities
• Pick up mail from post office
• Maintain archives
• Store files and other materials

Accounting Responsibilities
• Ensure that accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements of CANAA and MCSS are kept in proper books of accounts
• Ensure that all monies are deposited in the name and to the credit of CANAA
• Prepare budget reports for regular meetings
• Ensure CANAA and MCSS financials are in order at the close of the fiscal year for the AGM budget report
• Disburse CANAA funds under the direction of the Treasurer, Chair or Co-Chair
• Record hours of work, prepare invoices, submit expenses
• Work in collaboration with the Treasurer to prepare and submit the MCSS funding application and other grant submissions
• Prepare and submit required reports

Other Responsibilities
• Coordinate Executive Committee meetings, prepare the agenda and record minutes
• Ensure CANAA’s Strategic Plan is adhered to, and revised on a regular basis
• Coordinate strategic direction committees and report updates
• Assist in special projects when needed (i.e: workshops, promotions)
• All other duties as assigned
Provide back-up should the designated Coordinator be unavailable
 Assist the SDC Executive Director with events and projects
